How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Try to connect to my university vpn via firefox+java plugin
2.
3.

Actual results:
Connection failed

Expected results:
Connection achieved

Additional info:
If i try the same connection using sun java plugin and the connection works fine. I don't know how to help to solve this ....
I will prefer that this vpn system works in fedora out of the box without adding sun java.

Comment 2 Eric Tanguy 2010-06-13 16:47:21 UTC
In fedora 13 i still need to install sun java version to be able to vpn to my university.

Comment 3 Andre Robatino 2010-06-17 14:22:49 UTC
Which version are you having the problem with? If lower than java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-41.b18.fc13, update to that as there was serious breakage with earlier versions.

Comment 4 Eric Tanguy 2010-06-17 17:06:35 UTC
I have java-1.6.0-openjdk-plugin-1.6.0.0-41.b18.fc13.i686 installed. I just tried one more time and the problem is still here. The web page try to load an applet named Host Checker. I see at the bottom of the page applet running but nothing more and the system don't go ahead whereas with the sun java stack this step is passed to access the network access choice ...
I can find and send the jar file if needed.
Thanks

Hello Eric,

It would be helpful if you could provide a means for us to try and reproduce this bug. Could you also try running firefox with the plugin debugger.

ICEDTEAPLUGIN_DEBUG=true firefox

Thanks

Hi Eric.

Can you please re-run it as specified in Comment #5, attach the log and also attach the ~/.icedteaplugin/java.std* files?

This message is a reminder that Fedora 13 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 13. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '13'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 13's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 13 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 11 Bug Zapper 2011-06-27 14:36:58 UTC
Fedora 13 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2011-06-25. Fedora 13 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
