Comment 3 Andre Costa 2010-03-16 19:08:58 UTC
I work with Java development, and this bug bites be very often; it seems to occur more when I close a Java modal dialog (it's not 100% though). I use here:

- Oracle JDK 6u18
- Eclipse 3.5.2 (from Eclipse.org)

HTH

Comment 4 Jim Metz 2010-03-16 19:43:33 UTC
It seems to happen with me using firefox but I have just login and the little icon is in the tray, I wish I could be more specific.

Comment 5 Andre Costa 2010-04-15 16:16:09 UTC

How to reproduce
-----
1. close a window opened by a Java application
2.
3.

Comment

This is not always reproducible, but occurs very frequently. It seems to be more likely to happen when you close a window after having closed a modal window. It has already been reported as bug #574164, and still happens even though JDK has been upgraded to 6u19. It is *very* annoying, because it makes it impossible to work with Java development using Compiz, I have to switch window manager to Metacity.

Comment 6 Igal Alkon 2010-04-24 10:35:24 UTC

How to reproduce
-----
1. emerald on system (gnome) startup

Comment 7 Nikolay Vladimirov 2010-04-24 10:49:17 UTC
Just note that I orphaned emerald a while ago and no one has stepped up to maintain it. Also upstream is dead. So this most probably will be closed as WONTFIX after I retire emerald in a week or two if no one takes ownership.

Wow, didn't know emerald was dead upstream :-( Is there any other alternative besides GTK Window Decorator?

Comment 9 Nikolay Vladimirov 2010-04-24 16:24:08 UTC
Yeah, more info here:
http://smspillaz.wordpress.com/2010/02/12/emerald/

I think that it's obsoleted by metacity with compiz.

Comment 10 Andre Costa 2010-04-25 18:14:20 UTC
Mmmh... thks, didn't know that. It really looks that GTK Window Decorator is getting all the attention now. I found other people explicitely advising to switch fom emerald as well:

http://ubuntulinuxtipstricks.blogspot.com/2008/12/compiz-emerald-metacity-what.html

I have switched to GTK Window Decorator, but haven't tested it thoroughly so far with Java development, let's hope it is more stable.

This package has changed ownership in the Fedora Package Database. Reassigning to the new owner of this component.

Comment 12 Bug Zapper 2010-11-04 04:56:50 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '12'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 13 Bug Zapper 2010-12-04 02:34:05 UTC
Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
