Description Trever Adams 2009-12-01 02:46:54 UTC
Description of problem:
I am learning Hebrew, so I am starting to use keyboard layouts quite a bit. The standard Hebrew keyboard (Keyboard Indicator set to keyboard Israel/Israel) should include Euro, New Shekel, Double Vav, Double Yud, Yud Vav characters. I am unlikely to use the Yiddish characters, but others might (the last three are Yiddish). The Euro and New Shekel are useful. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hebrew_keyboard ... I have forgotten the standard number for the keyboard layout, but this document matches what I did see in the standard document).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
glibc-common-2.11-2.x86_64

How reproducible:
100% missing for Euro and New Shekel.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install keyboard indicator applet in gnome
2. Setup Israel/Israel keyboard
3. Switch to keyboard use 3rdlevelkey+4 should be New Shekel, doesn't work
4. 3rdlevelkey+e should be Euro, doesn't work

si1452 is the keyboard standard. I was wrong. The ones I have seen are Windows, which we may or may not want to follow.

However, the standard can be found here: http://www.qsm.co.il/NewHebrew/Key1452e.htm

Sorry for the confusion. Can the keyboard layout indicator do si1452?

Can you please check if the following scratch build works for you?
Since I'm not familiar with the il keyboard, I cannot say if the remainder of the keyboard keeps working after this.

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=2012514

Euro sign was added to E, shekel to A (as per standard).

This does indeed fix the problem. As best as I am able to test, the rest of the keyboard continues to work. I haven't tested F1..F12 very well, nor scroll lock, sysrq, break. I rarely use these keys. I haven't been able to make print screen work for some time, so that is my only method of testing the full layout.

Thank you. Can you publish this in f13 and f12?

Comment 6 Trever Adams 2010-03-02 18:26:08 UTC
Just one small problem, when doing "Show Current Layout", the Euro sign is very close, almost on top of the Qof (Q/K which is in position lower case e for standard english layouts). For Shin (sh, lower case a position), the New Shekel symbol does overlap.

The keyboard layout does work as said.

Upstreamed, I want to wait for Sergey's comment on it before commiting though:

This was working but now it doesn't seem to be working in F13 with the latest updates. Has something changed upstream?
