Description Jonathan Wakely 2009-12-01 21:48:14 UTC
Description of problem:

abrt won't let me send a bug report without creating a default keyring

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

abrt-1.0.0-1.fc12.x86_64

How reproducible:

Probably only reproducible on new install

Steps to Reproduce:
1. abrt wants to report a crash for the first time
2. on submission it complains that some settings are incorrect ("WARNING Wrong settings detected for some of the enabled reporting plugins")
3. click the bugzilla button to enter my BZ login details,
4. enter BZ details, click OK
5. dialog appears asking you to create a password for the default keyring
6. I don't want to use a keyring, so I click cancel.
7. OK button on BZ login dialog now does nothing. click cancel instead.
8. some details still wrong, goto step 3.
9. eventually I give up and create a default keyring

Actual results:

I am forced to create a default keyring to submit a crash report

Expected results:

I should be able to reenter my bugzilla details as needed

Additional info:

even if creating a keyring is a requirement (in which case I won't use abrt) then step 7 is broken, the OK button should be disabled if clicking it is going to do nothing.

Hi,
this is really a bug, abrt should allow you to enter the password without saving it.

I fixed this in git, so the fix will be in next update. In the meantime you can set your password in Edit->Plugins, this way it will only complaining that it can save the password, but will allow you to set it per-session and send a report.

Just out of curiosity, do you just want to use another password manager (like kwallet) or you just don't want to store your passwords at all?

Currently I don't use any password manager. That's partly because some apps want to use the gnome keyring whereas I use KDE apps in most cases, so I don't have a clear preference for which one to use (if I decide to use one at all.)

Thanks for the fix and the tip on setting the password per session.
