Description of problem: Totem gstreamer doesn't play DVD Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Totem 2.28.3 How reproducible: Reproducible on my computer, tested with multiple DVD or ISO files that work with VLC Steps to Reproduce: 1. Insert the DVD or open an DVD ISO file with Totem Actual results: The menu appears (with sound) but clicking on the items has no effect (and the mouse pointer doesn't change when crossing an item). When clicking on next chapter or sequence in Totem, the first frame appears, but the video doesn't play (nor does the sound). Expected results: The menu should be functional and the movie should be played. I see the same thing with 2.28.4-1. It makes totem unusable for playing DVDs.
Ditto here with 2.28.5-1 x86_64. It's also a problem with parole-0.1.99 (another gstreamer-based app), so I guess the problem lies with gstreamer.
Had been seeing this too and found that by clicking, variously, play/pause, forward, and backward, that I could get playback started. Unfortunately, that DVD went back to the library, and of the four DVDs I now have available, all play as expected. $ rpm -qa 'totem*' 'gstreamer*' libdvdcss | sort gstreamer-0.10.25.1-3.fc12.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.17-2.fc12.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-bad-extras-0.10.17-2.fc12.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-bad-nonfree-0.10.17-2.fc12.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10.25.1-2.fc12.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-flumpegdemux-0.10.15-8.fc12.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-good-0.10.17-4.fc12.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-ugly-0.10.13-1.fc12.x86_64 gstreamer-python-0.10.16-1.fc12.x86_64 gstreamer-tools-0.10.25.1-3.fc12.x86_64 libdvdcss-1.2.10-1.x86_64 totem-2.28.5-1.fc12.x86_64 totem-mozplugin-2.28.5-1.fc12.x86_64 totem-nautilus-2.28.5-1.fc12.x86_64 totem-pl-parser-2.28.2-1.fc12.x86_64
(In reply to comment #3) More version info: libdvdnav-4.1.4-0.1.svn1184.fc12.x86_64 libdvdread-4.1.4-0.2.svn1188.fc12.x86_64
This is current in fc12 Totem now. I own an unencrypted commercial DVD, "Kino's Journey". If I click on the first screen, then Totem hangs at 100% cpu. I must use the Go menu to proceed without clicking on the screen. Additional hangs and silences must be dealt with by moving around the indicator on the progress bar. Gnome-Mplayer works.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '12'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
