Description of problem: After applying the latest kernel upgrade (2.6.31.6-166.fc12.x86_64), the firewall configuration tool just hangs after authenticating as the root user forever. The startup dialog just sits there and never goes away after the authentication dialog. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): system-config-firewall-base-1.2.21-1.fc12.noarch system-config-firewall-1.2.21-1.fc12.noarch How reproducible: Everytime. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Upgrade to kernel 2.6.31.6-166.fc12.x86_64 2. Startup firewall configuration tool ->System->Administration->Firewall 3. Click Close on the startup dialog, and enter the root password on the authentication dialog. Actual results: Startup dialog comes up that warns you about losing custom configuration, etc. After clicking "Close", the authentication dialog comes up, and you can enter your root password, and that dialog goes away, and hang! Expected results: Should load the firewall configuration after authentication as root, and let you modify it. Additional info:
Running from a console you see the following output at about the time the "Authenticate as Root" dialog pops up. It is at this point that system-config-firewall is considered to be non-responsive. ERROR system-config-network Introspect error on :1.70:/org/fedoraproject/Config/Firewall: dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. DEBUG system-config-network Executing introspect queue due to error
I should have looked further... this issue is a SELinux policy issue that should be fixed in selinux-policy-3.6.32-57.fc12.noarch. See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=545680 This is a dupe of that bug (which is probably a dupe of other bugs) :)
