Description of problem:
After a recent upgrade from RHN Satellite 5.0.x to 5.3.0, customer encountered some performance related problems w/r/t adding packages to child channels (and deletion, but that's a separate BZ) - specifically, "Select All" takes forever to return (see steps below)

A process that would normally take about 10 minutes prior to the upgrade now takes on the order of 1.5 hours or more!

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. have a satellite with base channel A, then child channel B with ~6100 pkgs and child channel C with none.
2. select "Channels" from the top RHN bar
3. select "Manage Software Channels" on menu at left
4. select channel C
5. select "Packages" from list at top
6. select "Add Packages"
7. under the "Add Packages" title bar, select child channel B from the "Channels" pulldown and click "View Packages"
8. after the screen refreshes, click on "Select All" at bottom of page
click on "Add Packages" at bottom of page.   <<<===== THIS IS WHERE IT TAKES 1.5 HRS (RH 3 + RHEL 4/5) *****

Actual results:
"Select all" takes 1.5 hrs for customer, and in internal reproducer the page times out with Internal Server Error.

Expected results:
Action completes fast and no internal server error.

Additional info:
There is already a bugfix for this as part of Bug 512844 - in other words, the fix for this bug makes it possible to test Bug 512844.  But since they're separate bugs, splitting this one out and making sure it's covered in QA independently, as well as track customer issue.

This was fixed in commit 914db78b3a4f2a805e16914f62660bb7438ec11b.
