Description Jerry James 2009-12-17 18:39:59 UTC
Description of problem:
First, thanks for working on nouveau. It has been working great for me on F-12 until today. I have a dual monitor setup. At some point, the mouse pointer stopped displaying on the left monitor. I don't know what triggered it. I was writing code, and when I went to move the pointer over the left screen, it disappeared when it went off the right screen. There are no helpful messages in ~/.xsession-errors or in /var/log/Xorg.0.log. All I see is this one line in /var/log/messages:

Dec 17 11:18:56 153-10-10-10 kernel: [drm] nouveau 0000:04:00.0: EvoCh 0 Mthd 0x0000 Data 0x00000400 (0x1002 0x01)

That is approximately the time when the mouse pointer stopped displaying.

I can click on stuff when the mouse pointer is on the left monitor, but it is tricky since I can't see where the mouse is. So the mouse is moving and clicking normally; it's just that the pointer isn't being drawn when on the left monitor.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.15-17.20091105gite1c2efd.fc12.x86_64

How reproducible:
Not at all, I suspect. This is the first time it's happened.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:
The mouse pointer is not drawn on the left monitor, but is still drawn on the right monitor.

Expected results:
The mouse pointer should be drawn when it is on the left monitor.

Here's a little more information. After filing this bug, I decided that I had better reboot to get the kernel driver back in shape. I managed to logout (tricky, that), only to be greeted by 2 black monitors, both saying "no signal". I forced a reboot. There is nothing of note in /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old, although I've saved a copy if you want to see it. In /var/log/messages, I see a ton of these:

Dec 17 11:28:40 153-10-10-10 kernel: [drm] nouveau 0000:04:00.0: no space while unhiding cursor

but that's the first one, and it's a full 10 minutes after the mouse pointer disappeared. Interspersed in those are a few of these:

Dec 17 11:43:06 153-10-10-10 kernel: [drm:drm_crtc_helper_set_config] *ERROR* failed to set mode on crtc ffff880223aca800

and one of these:

Dec 17 11:43:06 153-10-10-10 kernel: [drm] nouveau 0000:04:00.0: Allocating FIFO number 2
Dec 17 11:43:06 153-10-10-10 kernel: [drm] nouveau 0000:04:00.0: nouveau_channel_alloc: initialised FIFO 2
Dec 17 11:43:06 153-10-10-10 kernel: [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id

and it looks like this is what happened when I logged out:

Dec 17 11:43:08 153-10-10-10 kernel: [drm] nouveau 0000:04:00.0: no space while disconnecting DAC

The symptoms are the same as #537065, marking as a dup.
