mail-notification on this system crashes very frequently. Sometimes it works for a little while after logging in, but nearly always crashes eventually.

Some things that might be relevant:
x86_64 system.
Using wireless with NetworkManager, so the connection is not up immediately after logging in.
POP3 username is odd; it has '@' in it. I'm not kidding -- the Username is hexedar, so the full login ends up being hexedar@pop3.live.com. Strange.
