Hi You should change the default-email in the package because on "real" mailservers "root@localhost" will be expanded to "root.tld" So i created forwarders on two machines to get the mail instead of bounces ____________________ <root.thelounge.net> (expanded from <root@localhost>): Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=localhost.caladan.thelounge.net type=A: Host not found <root.net> (expanded from <root@localhost>): Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=localhost.thelounge.net type=A: Host not found
I am pretty sure I added it this way for SSMTP users for some reason, but I am unable to find the exact bug related to that. Are you using sendmail? Fedora sendmail automatically has a "Cwlocalhost" and "C{w}localhost.localdomain" so this should work by default.
I'm using postfix [root@caladan:~]$ cat /etc/sysconfig/rkhunter MAILTO=root.net DIAG_SCAN=yes This works and i mean the default in the cronjob should do the same which would be implicit if there is only "root" instead of "root@localhost". [root@caladan:~]$ cat /etc/cron.daily/rkhunter | grep root MAILTO=root@localhost If you have postfix running only for system-mails this is no problem, but if you are running a full mail server it expands because "root@localhost" is not full qualified, so it would better to expand to the postfix-default-domain
Well, as I said, I think this was added for ssmtp, but doing some testing here I can't get it to fail with just 'root' instead. I guess I will change it to just root in the next batch of updates I do and see what breaks. ;) Thanks for the bug report.
