Description of problem: A process named "python" have a high CPU usage. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): yumex.noarch 2.9.4-1.fc12 python.i686 2.6.2-2.fc12 rpm-python.i686 4.7.2-1.fc12 How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1.Run the "yumex" from the menu. 2.Click "Cancel" button when Asking for Root's password. 3.Run "top" command in a terminal window, you'll find a process named "python", it's cpu usage is ...85%-95%... Actual results: A process named "python", which cpu usage is ...85%-95%...when Yumex doing nothing. Expected results: It should have lower cpu usage. Additional info:
I can reproduce the issue, but it is not normal operation to Cancel the root password prompt, yumex is starting a background task running as root using consolehelper, so if you cancel the root password, the gui will wait forever for the background task to be loaded and you will see the high CPU usage count. The right action will be to alert the user and quit the gui.
fixed upstream, so the gui will detect if the backend is not started, if someone is clicking on cancel on the root password dialog.
Ok, but I have a question: Why To Ask for root passwd when starting yumex instead of as necessary?
because the yum action is running as a background as root, so we need the root password when the backend is started. So the root password is needed right as the gui is started.
(In reply to comment #4) > because the yum action is running as a background as root, so we need the root > password when the backend is started. So the root password is needed right as > the gui is started. Thank you for your reply:)
