Created attachment 386301 [details] Screenshot Fedora seems to include a special set of optical disc icons with emblems like "DVD". Problem is, those icons show up in full size in the panel's Places menu. To test, simple put in a DVD and have a look at the menu (see screenshot). Possible fixes include adding icons in smaller sizes (16, 22, 24, 32 px), dropping the Fedora-specific icons or fixing the panel to scale the icon (which could be the fastest but most ugly fix)
find /usr/share/icons/gnome -name media-optical-dvd.* /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/devices/media-optical-dvd.png /usr/share/icons/gnome/22x22/devices/media-optical-dvd.png /usr/share/icons/gnome/48x48/devices/media-optical-dvd.png /usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/devices/media-optical-dvd.svg small sizes are there...
Created attachment 404785 [details] Icons 24x24 I just investigated a bit more, the needed size (24x24) is actually NOT there. As the somewhat optional 32x32 is missing, too, the panel takes the next bigger size, which is 48x48. Attached you will find the missing 24x24 icons. After adding those, the problem was gone. You should add them to "gnome-icon-theme-extra-device-icons-5" in the RPM source
Changing title to reflect the situation. Many of the icons need to be redone anyway as they use the old (pre 2.30) gnome-icon-theme style.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '12'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
