Description info@kobaltwit.be 2010-01-26 13:00:08 UTC
Description of problem:
RHEL ships with gtk2 version 2.10.4. The current gtk2 stable release is 2.18.x. RHEL doesn't need to be this up to date, but rebasing to 2.12 would be very useful.

This request comes in the light of the upcoming Gnome 3.0 (or 2.30) in which a number of deprecated libraries and api's will be removed. For some of these the replacement library or api has only appeared in gtk2 v2.12. For example GtkTooltips will be removed and is replaced with GtkTooltip. The latter only appears in gtk2 v 2.12.

Rebasing to 2.12+ would make it easier for gnome developers to build applications that work both on RHEL and on distributions that will ship with gnome 3.0 (or 2.30).

Just adding a comment to clear the needinfo flag which continues to trigger nag mails to urge me to add the requested info.
