Description of problem:
installer crashes when trying to install redhat 7.2 on an dell inspiron 
8100. I'm not sure if it is always at the same time of the process. 
Happens in graphic and text mode.

I think you might have a bad cd.  Did you check the md5sums of the ISOs?

ok, it was a problem with the cd. it worked fine on an another system but not on the dell inspiron.

Actually, I think it might be a problem with the DVD drive.  Can you try
installing with the DVD drive, but boot the installer with 'linux ide=nodma'?
