Could you please answer to bug #485178 before doing *any* new review request?

Comment 2 Christoph Wickert 2010-02-03 00:20:41 UTC
Summary and description are *really* bad. Summary is too advertising and the description is impossible to understand.

Comment 3 Michael Stahnke 2010-02-03 02:57:58 UTC
I took the description from the README file from the URL. I thought it was ambiguous but, tried to stick with items from the documentation.

I have redone it and uploaded a new file.

Gist: Command line interface to gist paste utility

%description
Gist is a command line utility designed to interface with
github's gist paste website. It allows for posting new
content or viewing previously pasted content.

The word "for" seems not belong into that sentence and I with that description I still have no idea what this app is about. How about using something like this?

<<<----
Gist is a simple way to share snippets and pastes with others. All gists are git repositories, so they are automatically versioned, forkable and usable as a git repository.

This package includes a command line utility designed to interface with github's gist paste website at http://gist.github.com. It allows for posting new content or viewing previously pasted content. Before using the application, you have to set up your git config with your GitHub username and token:
git config --global github.user "your-github-username"
git config --global github.token "your-github-token"

Please don't use "for more information ...." The website hardly has more info and if we started with this, we could do this for every package.

Any change of a review?

Comment 9 Michael Stahnke 2010-09-15 02:04:33 UTC
I can trade a review....

Comment 10 Jason Tibbitts 2010-11-16 23:43:30 UTC
Unfortunately pings on tickets don't really work because very few people will see them (and it makes it look as if there's been recent activity, which has the opposite effect from what you want).

The upstream source seems to be properly versioned now; it looks like they've recently gone to 2.0.0. Care to update? Unfortunately a properly versioned package is actually older (rpm-wise) than the version you've submitted, but that shouldn't cause any real problems. (This is why we usually recommend using a version of 0 and release of 0.20100201 instead unless you're sure that upstream will never switch to using regular version numbers.)

Comment 11 Michael Stahnke 2010-11-17 19:46:04 UTC
Normally, a quick ping reminds the original reviewer to have a look. In this case, that didn't work out.

Upstream has changed quite a bit and still has a couple of fairly big bugs open (at least last week they were still having problems with the SSL cut-over at github).

I'd be happy to create a new review. The package name will be different as well, as it would be rubygem-gist in the new version. Let's just close out this review and another can start when I have time to package up the new one, or when somebody else does.

There wasn't a original reviewer yet.
A few comments, e.g. the ones from Christoph from above, are not yet a review...
