I cannot seem to get any .wav files to work at all. Is it possible for you to attach the wav file you are attempting to use here, using the attachment links above?

I have this same problem in Thunderbird in f13 fully up to date as of 22nd August 2010. So I guess this has remained unresolved since F12 as the new system replaces an f11 system where this was working fine.

The .wav file plays perfectly well using aplay xxx.wav from a terminal

This was tested both for the stock version of Thunderbird (thunderbird-3.1.2-1.fc13.i686) as well as with the nightly for 3.1.3

Might be nice to find out if this is a Thunderbird bug or a problem with the interaction of Thunderbird with pulseaudio?

Comment 4 Mike C 2010-08-24 07:44:30 UTC
The solution is that two packages that are necessary are not usually installed!

See:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=589732

Comment 5 Mike C 2010-08-24 07:47:03 UTC
If you install pulseaudio-esound-compat and esound-libs then this should fix it. It works for me in f13 and presumably will for f12 also?

If so then this bz can be closed? Also I would ask that perhaps these two packages should be installed as dependencies of Thunderbird when that is installed? So maybe this can be remedied in the future? That might be taken up by the Thunderbird packagers?

Comment 6 Bug Zapper 2010-11-03 23:07:40 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '12'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 7 Bug Zapper 2010-12-03 23:21:49 UTC
Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Same problem still exists in Fedora 15.

Comment 9 Bill C. Riemers 2011-05-30 14:37:48 UTC
Sorry I was wrong. It turns out I was using audio files in the openoffice gallery. For Fedora-15 openoffice was replaced with libreoffice, so the actual error was that the file does not exist. Since the error is reported on the jsconsole, I did not see the error message until I remembered to open the error console. I'm restoring this bug back to it's previous state.
