Description of problem:Whemn ting to switch user from my regulaunt to the root account it does nrecognize the password for. I know aping it correctly because when I enter it in my regular user account for elevation to do a admin task it is then recognized.

How reproducible:All the time.


Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click on system - log me out
2.Click on switch user
3.enter other for user - enter root for acct and then enter password. It is not recognized.
  
Actual results:Can not log in as root.


Expected results:should be able to switch to root acct.

This does not seem to be an issue with 389 DS server.
It is some kind of the PAM/NSS related issue thus reassigning to an appropriate component.

Please provide more information about what kind of authentication methods have been configured on the box. 
Did you configure any kind of remote authentication?
Are you using SSSD?
Syslog, NSS and PAM configuration files will be helpful to troubleshoot the problem.

The root login is disabled in GUI on purpose.

If you need to log in as root you can use either su from regular user account or switch to a text console and log in from there.
