Description jabowery 2010-02-13 16:36:08 UTC
Description of problem:

Errors out-of-the-box on start of yum install ejabberd on fresh FC12 from Fedora repository. Apparently even more errors appear on restart, with the consequence that ejabberd doesn't run.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

See:

http://www.ejabberd.im/node/3863

wherein badlop says:

I never suffered that problem myself, but people have reported it a few times.

Maybe there's a problem in the Fedora package, you aren't the first one to report:
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?p=1294995

Some quick search for "Function: get_file. Process: code_server." reported results. For example:
http://www.trapexit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=48056

Comment 1 Peter Lemenkov 2010-02-13 16:56:42 UTC
Yes, that's a known issue, ant it will be resolved (not so) very soon.

The problem is that although ejabberd must be started by superuser, it drops privileges to ejabberd user. This is not a problem if you start ejabberd from the directory, which is accessible for 'ejabberd' user, but in case when you started it from /root, this will render to these messages.

Please, try running /etc/init.d/ejabberd from some read-accessible (for ejabberd user) directory, f.e. from / and tell us about the results.

Tried to restart ejabberd from /root and seems to work flawlessly.
