Description Bruno Li 2001-11-21 11:34:35 UTC

Description of problem:
NVidia Vanta LT card fails in both RH 7.2 installation ("Test Setting")
and Xconfigurator. Fails on all modes.
Switch back to 7.1, the card works (NVidia TNT).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use RH 7.2 CD to install RH 7.2 (upgrade or fresh installation);
2. when prompt, input NVidia card's memory (8M) then press "Test Setting"
button;
3. The screen is turned to black for 1 second; installation does not give
any information;

Use "Xconfigurator", it sees NVidia card and the monitor (ViewSonic E655-
2), then I choose 8M memory, then no matter which mode I select to test,
the screen is turned black for 1 second, then it says "something wrong"
and asks me to go back.

I switch back to RH 7.1, same card/monitor, same selection, and it works
without any problems.

Try configuration again, and _dont_ click on test setting, just
let configuration complete, and then run startx. Does that work?
If not, please attach the config file, and the X server log from
your attempt.

updated information please, and i'd be glad to look into the problem.
