Description of problem: The current version of unetbootin at Fedora 12 doesn't create usable Fedora USB sticks since the Fedora path rumbling on mirrors: A HTML page (error 404) gets saved as vmlinuz. That's even two errors actually: The wrong path and that unetbootin doesn't check whether a download is theoretically correct... I'm right now reporting this error on request of somebody else, he'll sign up at Red Hat Bugzilla hopefully soon to provide the rest of the details as needed. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): unetbootin-0-7.377bzr.fc12 How reproducible: Everytime, see above. Actual results: No usable Fedora USB sticks since Fedora path rumbling on mirrors Expected results: Working stuff... ;-)
Try if # yum --enablerepo=updates-testing update unetbootin does the trick. The update to unetbootin-0-8.393bzr.fc12 goes stable in the next updates push.
It was me who sent the request originally. (I have finally signed up now.) @Jussi: Unfortunately I have no USB stick here at the moment. And unetbootin does not show up loop devices. I have updated yet and will try out whether it is working now as soon as possible! Robert's description is OK. I have nothing to add so far.
Björn, any feedback by you?
ping Björn?
Sorry for not writing earlier. (There was no need for me to boot from USB since then.) I have just tried it again on Fedora 12… $ head -1 /etc/issue; rpm -q unetbootin Fedora release 12 (Constantine) unetbootin-0-8.393bzr.fc12.x86_64 The problem exists unchanged. Also it's just possible to select Fedora 12 or Rawhide but not Fedora 13...
