Description of problem: I installed transmission-qt via yum and tried to start it both with the desktop link and via command line. It does not even start up, but crashes right after launching with the following error: qtr: symbol lookup error: qtr: undefined symbol: _ZN8QVariantC1EiPKvj Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): $ rpm -qa transmission* transmission-common-1.90-1.fc12.i686 transmission-qt-1.90-1.fc12.i686 How reproducible: Install and run transmission-qt. Steps to Reproduce: 1. run qtr Actual results: Nothing happens, just a symbol lookup error: qtr: symbol lookup error: qtr: undefined symbol: _ZN8QVariantC1EiPKvj The lookup error is always the same, even after rebooting. Expected results: Transmission running fine, or at least running. Additional info: /usr/share/transmission only contains the folder "web".
Can't reproduce this whats the output of rpm -ql transmission-common
Created attachment 395376 [details] rpm -ql transmission-common output This is the output.
did you update your kde or qt packages by any chance recently? I suspect this is what is breaking the build http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/devel-announce/2010-February/000560.html Give me the version numbers of those
updating Qt to 4 point 6 in updates-testing repo should fix it I believe
> did you update your kde or qt packages by any chance recently? No, but the build system did and you pushed the stuff to stable before the Qt in the buildroot override (which FYI won't be in stable for at least another week). NO Qt-using packages can be built and pushed without coordinating with KDE SIG at this time! (This was clearly said in our devel-announce message.) You did it anyway, you broke your package. Congratulations!
(And yes, this affects ALL packages which BR qt(4)-devel.)
Sorry but the message to the devel announce was not very explicit about any possibility of such issues at all and I dont find build issues anything to be congratulatory about
To be clear, the build was fine, it just ended up with an implicit dependency on qt-4.6.1 (or newer). So running against the older qt-4.5.x is the failure experienced here. sorry for the confusion.
The "Congratulations!" was sarcastic, of course. To be even more explicit, the build itself is fine, but pushing it to stable before Qt 4.6 was not, due to this issue. It is probably worth coordinating a build against Qt 4.5 with us and pushing that one to stable ASAP, as right now transmission-qt is completely broken for users of the stable updates.
Qt interface is considered beta by upstream and is fairly new so doesn't have many users yet esp in Fedora and hence I am not in a hurry yet When is the Qt planned to pushed to updates repo?
