Description of problem: kwin freezes when dri is enabled for /usr/lib/dri/savage_dri.so in mesa-dri-drivers-7.7-3.fc12.i686. Running "X -configure" and then setting Option "DRI" "off" in Section "Device" in xorg.conf let kwin run just fine. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): mesa-dri-drivers-7.7-3.fc12.i686 How reproducible: Allways Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start X from a tty (i.e. Alt-F2) without a config file, thereby enabling dri. 2. Start kwin from the same tty (export the DISPLAY variable first). Actual results: X hangs. Keyboard dead. Powerbutton shuts down the machine, so OS is not dead. Expected results: Log in via kdm into plasma-desktop with kwin active. Additional info: Starting plasma-desktop without kwin works with dri active. Metacity window manager works. Problem occurred after updating Fedora 12 (yum update). Worked fine with versions: mesa-dri-drivers-7.6-0.13.fc12.i686 kernel-PAE-2.6.31.9-174.fc12.i686 libdrm-2.4.15-8.fc12.i686 xorg-x11-drv-savage-2.3.1-1.fc12.i686 xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.7.4-1.fc12.i686 Current versions are: mesa-dri-drivers-7.7-3.fc12.i686 kernel-PAE-2.6.31.12-174.2.19.fc12.i686 libdrm-2.4.17-1.fc12.i686 xorg-x11-drv-savage-2.3.1-1.fc12.i686 xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.7.4-6.fc12.i686 Can't see error-messages in /var/log/messages, /var/log/dmesg or /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Tried disabling compositing in .kde/share/config/kwinrc, which didn't have any effect. This problem may be caused by the same bug as bug 541370.
