From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.77 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.2.14-5.0 i686) Description of problem: The recently released security update for wu-ftpd under RH6.2 has an earlier version than the previous update (wu-ftpd-2.6.1-6), so "rpm -i -U" fails. A workaround is to use "--oldpackage". This is a big deal, since we'll soon see worms out there exploiting the bug fixed in the new package. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Update wu-ftpd with the previous security update rpm (wu-ftpd-2.6.1-6.i386.rpm) 2. Try to install the latest wu-ftp update (wu-ftpd-2.6.1-0.6x.21.i386.rpm) 3. Actual Results: # rpm -i -U wu-ftpd-2.6.1-0.6x.21.i386.rpm package wu-ftpd-2.6.1-6 (which is newer than wu-ftpd-2.6.1-0.6x.21) is already installed Additional info:
wu-ftpd-2.6.1-6.i386.rpm has not been released as a 6.2 errata. The previous 6.2 errata was wu-ftpd-2.6.0-14.6x.i386.rpm .
