Description of problem: Grace is unable to find the Symbol font Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 5.1.22 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enter horizontal axis label as "2\xq\f{} (degrees)" 2. Click "Apply" Actual results: Axis says "2[oblique q] (degrees)" Expected results: Axis says "2[Greek letter theta] (degrees)" Additional info: Problem did not exist in Fedora 10, and is not solved by "yum install xorg-x11-fonts\*".
The problem can be easily solved. The file /etc/grace/FontDataBase is slightly corrupted. In the last line of the file, two lines aer joined. If you insert a <CR> after URW-Palladio-L-Bold-Italic URW-Palladio-L-Bold-Italic p052024l.pfb, you create the line for Symbol and grace works again! If the maintainer reads this mail, please correct the file in a updated package Thank you!
Grr... Thanks for the hint. If at least there was a glimpse of grace 6 all this mess would be gone. :-(
The line is actually the one following that: As of reporting, this read, "Symbol Symbol s050000l.pfbURW-Chancery-L-Medium-Italic URW-Chancery-L-Medium-Italic z003034l.pfb" Should read, "Symbol Symbol s050000l.pfb URW-Chancery-L-Medium-Italic URW-Chancery-L-Medium-Italic z003034l.pfb" That solved the problem. This problem affects F-13 as well. I am trying to understand what goes wrong in the creation of the FontDataBase file.
OK, as far as I understand the problem it seems that the cure to bug 504413 is now the poison to this bug. I will test a bit more before issuing updates.
