Do you have any other input devices other than a keyboard and mouse. It looks like it might be a crash in the X input layer.
Its a toshiba laptop, so only a touchpad which I usually don't use. Nothing else I didn't have this problem before switching to gnome-shell. But I've used gnome-shell for a while so it could be a new X issue that I didn't see under the normal Gnome shell.
