Description Matthew Miller 2010-03-02 18:12:29 UTC
Using LSB utilities for the service init script seems admirable. Unfortunately, as noted recently on the Fedora devel list, redhat-lsb pulls in an unfortunate string of dependencies, including (but not limited to) many audio and video libraries, servers, and even applications.

As the comment in the spec about bug #522053 notes, the LSB stuff in fedora isn't apparently even working right anyway.

Since tor doesn't actually require any of that stuff, it would be much better to modify the init script to simply use the Fedora "SysVInit" standards directly.

is this really a problem in rawhide? #472633#c10 implies that lsb-core does not pull in these deps anymore.

Comment 2 Matthew Miller 2010-03-02 20:22:07 UTC
You're right; sorry about that.
