Comment 1 Matias Kreder 2010-03-09 21:47:01 UTC
Restarting X with "init 3; init 5" doesn't fix the issue. I had to reboot

Comment 2 Adam Williamson 2010-04-09 18:21:37 UTC
In future, can you please post the log files separately, and uncompressed? It's far easier to deal with them this way. Thanks.

This also occurs on Fedora 14 x86_64 with the nouveau driver. I will add relevant log and hardware info in a follow up post here.

Here is my GPU:
VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C51PV [GeForce 6150] (rev a2)

And, here are the drivers loaded by X:

[  7140.952] (==) Matched nouveau as autoconfigured driver 0
[ 7140.952] (II) LoadModule: "nouveau"
[ 7140.953] (II) Loading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/nouveau_drv.so
[ 7140.953] (II) Module nouveau: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
[ 7140.959] (II) [drm] nouveau interface version: 0.0.16
[ 7141.226] (II) NOUVEAU(0): [DRI2] DRI driver: nouveau
[ 7141.239] (II) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib64/dri/nouveau_dri.so failed (/usr/lib64/dri/nouveau_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

There are no other error or relevant output in the logs.

If you are actively working in the desktop the cursor does not disappear. It is only after a period of inactivity (30-60 Min) that the cursor will disappear. If I turn on electric eyes and the gnome mouse option to highlight the cursor by pressing the control key I can follow / find the cursor location.

I have since loaded the nvidia drivers from rpmfusion for my card and all is well now.

Comment 8 Bug Zapper 2011-06-02 16:15:38 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 13 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 13. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '13'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 13's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 13 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 9 Bug Zapper 2011-06-27 15:07:32 UTC
Fedora 13 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2011-06-25. Fedora 13 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 10 Joao S. O. Bueno 2011-07-20 13:43:18 UTC
This happens with me on Fedora 15, new install - I'd request the bug to be reopened.
64 bit system. Nouveau drier - cursor vanishes about 5% of the times the screen resolutuion is changed by a SDL full screen application and back to x11, vanishes randomly other times as well.

I'd be happy with a work-around (a command I could type to restore the cursor) - as currently the only way to get it back is by rebooting.

Comment 11 Matias Kreder 2011-10-06 02:14:41 UTC
I am again having this issue. I've opened a new BZ for it:
