Description Valery Pipin 2010-03-18 05:55:35 UTC
Description of problem:
I fault to install Fedora 13 alpha (x86_64) on my macbook pro 5.5

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora 13 Alpha (DVD and liveCD for x86_64)

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.boot F13 alpha x86_64 DVD (check DVD is ok)
2. proceed through language and keyboard preferences steps
3. next step propose to choose Basic storage devices - Ok (the same result for another option though)
4 Next anaconda propose to select the drives in my case it is ATA FUJITSU MJA2250B
(capacity 238475 MB, ATA, SN-K94DT982A1WF)
5. Next I name my computer, select time zone, and give the root's password

6. Next screen give the options to choose partions to install to. I have Fedora 12 with partitions (/ /sda3, /home /sda4, swap /sda5) so I choose "Create Custom Layout".
7. Next I arrive to partition table at /dev/sda. I see
/sda1 200MB EFI
/sda2 114184 hfs+
free 128
/sda3 30000 (partition table MSDOS) (though it is ext4 with F12 "/")
/sda4 85000 (partition table MSDOS) (though it is ext4 with F12 "/home")
/sda5 8562 unknown
/sda6 1 unknown
/sda7 1 unknown
Free 398

I create "/" on /dev/sda3. Installer give no option to mount /dev/sda4 as home and keep all the data there, so I leave this partition to be unchecked.
I try to proceed to next step and have:

Actual results:
A window "Partitioning Errors" appears. It says that
"sda must have a MSDOS disk label

Expected results:
Fedora 12 has no such a bug.

Additional info:
The original partitioning of the disk was made __within__ MAC OSX 10.6. As recommended in the manuals I shrink MAC OSX system to half size and create three additional MSDOS partitions. Then I installed Fedora 12. I did not changed the partition table with anaconda instead I just formatted the needed partitions for Fedora. Installation goes smoothly for Fedora 12. I checked it just after my fault with Fedora 13 Alpha
