Description of problem:Today, an update for YUM (3.2.27-1.fc12) appeared in Software Updates. After the update, PackageKit no longer works properly. If I were to use the search bar, after pressing [Find], a popup appears with an error (pasted below). No messages appear when run in terminal. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gpk-application 2.28.3 How reproducible: Every time Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install YUM 3.2.27-1.fc12 2. Attempt to start Package kit by browsing to System>Administration>Add/Remove Software. Software Update seems to be unaffected 3. Actual results: Application comes up fine, but when I search for something, a popup appears with an error. Expected results: Search result should appear Additional info: The popup error says "An internal system error has occurred". When I click on ">More Details", I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/PackageKit/helpers/yum/yumBackend.py", line 391, in _do_search for (pkg, inst) in res: ValueError: too many values to unpack If I search for gibberish, the application works normally, reporting "No results were found".
Sorry, my post is a bit confusing. In "Steps to Reproduce", line 2 should read: Start Package Kit, and line 3 should read: Attempt to search for software. In "Actual results", it should read: Application starts fine, but when I search for software, a popup appears with an error. I want to clarify the use of the word "something" because, as I wrote in the last sentence of this post, if you search for gibberish (pressing keys on the keyboard at random, or even searching for the actual word "gibberish"), the application works normally.
