Created attachment 402578 [details] ISO file browse dialog on remotely connected kvm server Description of problem: When connecting to a remote kvm server, it is not possible to mount an ISO image into a remote virtual machine. I.e., I have a kvm server running in my university which has Windows XP as guest operating system. I want to install some software which is located on a CD-ROM which is stored as an ISO image on the server. When running virt-manager locally on the server, I can go to the "Details" window of the virtual machine, click CD-ROM then "Connect" and mount any ISO image located on the server. When connecting to the server remotely with virt-manager, mounting the image is not possible since the "Browse" button is deactivated. virt-manager should be smart enough to tell whether it's connected locally or remotely and when connected remotely it should browse the servers filesystem instead of the local filesystem. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 0.8.4 How reproducible: Always reproducible Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start virt-manager and connect to a remote kvm server 2. Click on a guest machine and click open, then choose 3. Click "View" and "Details" 4. Click "IDE CDROM" and then "Connect" 5. Click "Browse", it's not possible to choose a ISO image on the server Actual results: Cannot mount ISO image locally on the server Expected results: I would expect to be able to mount an ISO image to a guest machine, no matter whether it's connected locally or remotely. Additional info: One can login to the server via SSH and use virsh to mount the ISO but that's less convenient than virt-manager. I'm attaching a screenshot of how the CD-ROM ISO browse dialog looks on a remotely connected machine. I have the same bug on RHEL 5.5 with last updates installed (server) and Gentoo virt-manager-0.8.4-r1 (virt-manager client).
