check-device-ids.py from system-config-printer's HEAD lists drivers that seem to be from the hpijs package, but which are not reporting my printer's device ID, as per https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2010-03-25_Printing#Device_ID_checking Here's my output: Fetching driver list ├── hp (HP LaserJet 1320 series): MFG:Hewlett-Packard;MDL:hp LaserJet 1320 series; │ ├── foomatic:HP-LaserJet_1320-hpijs.ppd [/usr/lib/cups/driver/foomatic] │ ├── foomatic:HP-LaserJet_1320-Postscript.ppd [/usr/lib/cups/driver/foomatic] │ ├── drv:///hp/hpcups.drv/hp-laserjet_1320_series-pcl3.ppd [/usr/share/cups/drv/hp/hpcups.drv] │ ├── foomatic:HP-LaserJet_1320-gutenprint-ijs-simplified.5.2.ppd [/usr/lib/cups/driver/foomatic] │ ├── foomatic:HP-LaserJet_1320-gutenprint-ijs.5.2.ppd [/usr/lib/cups/driver/foomatic] │ └── foomatic:HP-LaserJet_1320-pxlmono.ppd [/usr/lib/cups/driver/foomatic] │ MISSING lsb/usr/HP/hp-laserjet_1320tn-ps.ppd.gz [/usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1320tn-ps.ppd.gz] │ MISSING drv:///hp/hpcups.drv/hp-laserjet_1320.ppd [/usr/share/cups/drv/hp/hpcups.drv] │ MISSING lsb/usr/HP/hp-laserjet_1320n-ps.ppd.gz [/usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1320n-ps.ppd.gz] │ MISSING lsb/usr/HP/hp-laserjet_1320nw-ps.ppd.gz [/usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1320nw-ps.ppd.gz] │ MISSING lsb/usr/HP/hp-laserjet_1320_series-ps.ppd.gz [/usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1320_series-ps.ppd.gz] │ MISSING lsb/usr/HP/hp-laserjet_1320-ps.ppd.gz [/usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1320-ps.ppd.gz]
hplip-3.10.2-11.fc13 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 13. http://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/hplip-3.10.2-11.fc13
Is this going to be pushed to F12? Production printer just went down and I can't get a ppd to generate: foomatic-ppdfile -p HP-LaserJet_1320 > ! /etc/cups/ppd/RECEP_HP.ppd ERROR: foomatic-ppdfile: There is neither a custom PPD file nor the driver database entry contains sufficient data to build a PPD file. Used to work fine.
Trevor: This bug is about a cosmetic bug that merely prevents the new automatic printer driver installation feature in Fedora 13 from functioning correctly with this printer. You can still add a queue manually for this model using the recommended methods (which do not involve running foomatic directly!). If you must use the command line to rebuild the queue, use 'lpinfo -m' to list drivers, and 'lpadmin -p ... -m ...' to set a driver for a queue. Otherwise simply use system-config-printer to set it.
Thanks for the hine! I got the new method to work. I hate the web interfaces and much prefer the command line. Seems like every 2-3 Fedoras cups changes something major and goes more gui :-(
If using the command line, stick to lpinfo and lpadmin. The foomatic commands only give you access to a subset of the available drivers. The lpinfo/lpadmin commands have been around since CUPS was first introduced into Fedora.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '11'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
