It appears that certain functionality of pygments (for instance ImageFormatter) require python-imaging. See bug #580172 for an example.

It seems to me that the pygments package should be extended with a dependency on python-imaging.

This is the case with at least python-pygments-1.3.1-1.fc13.noarch
