1) how many lines per screen (and this should be configurable by user
preferences)

This option should be included within a more comprehensive UI preferences framework. Something that we currently do not have.

Dropping this, because we should really provide better views/tools which make needs like this obsolete. Furthermore, if someone really wants this and is super important, a new bug should be raised with the reason as to why it is a good idea and should be supported. Last but not least, I think as of this moment, there are way more important items out there to work on than this low priority bug.
