Created attachment 406919 [details] output from pulseaudio -vvvvv Description of problem: My laptop speakers are not muted when I plugin headphones. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): PulseAudio 0.9.21 Relatively fresh nightly compose (kde-x86_64-20100411.16). How reproducible: Play audio and observe that by plugging in and out headphones doesn't mute/unmute laptop speakers. Actual results: Plugging headphones not having any effect on laptop speaker output. Expected results: Speakers muted when headphones plugged in. Additional info: I can mute speakers by selecting "headphones" from pavucontrol. Additionally, I can hear audio from headphones even if "speakers" is selected from pavucontrol (which might also qualify as a bug, shouldn't the headphones be muted?) Audio device: 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller [8086:284b] (rev 03)
>> >> My laptop speakers are not muted when I plugin headphones. >> Have the same problem also: pavucontrol => Output Devices: 1. Analog Speakers 2. Analog Output 3. Analog Headphones 1. If "Analog Speakers" is choiced (default), Speakers and Headphones (both together) are used for output. I can not check if headphone jack is involved if headphones are disconnected. 2. If "Analog Output" is choiced, Speakers are mute. Headphones are used for output, if connected. I can not check if headphone jack is involved if Headphones are disconnected. 3. If "Analog Headphones" is choiced, Speakers are mute. Headphones are used for output, if connected. I can not check if Headphone jack is involved if Headphones are disconnected. --- [root@eee901 ~]# cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel HDA Intel at 0xf7eb8000 irq 28 --- [root@eee901 ~]# rpm -qa | grep alsa alsa-utils-1.0.22-1.fc13.i686 alsa-lib-1.0.23-1.fc13.i686 alsa-plugins-pulseaudio-1.0.22-1.fc13.i686 --- [sergeil@eee901 ~]$ rpm -qa | grep pulse pulseaudio-module-gconf-0.9.21-6.fc13.i686 pulseaudio-module-bluetooth-0.9.21-6.fc13.i686 pulseaudio-utils-0.9.21-6.fc13.i686 pulseaudio-gdm-hooks-0.9.21-6.fc13.i686 alsa-plugins-pulseaudio-1.0.22-1.fc13.i686 pulseaudio-module-x11-0.9.21-6.fc13.i686 pulseaudio-libs-0.9.21-6.fc13.i686 pulseaudio-libs-glib2-0.9.21-6.fc13.i686 pulseaudio-0.9.21-6.fc13.i686 kde-settings-pulseaudio-4.4-16.fc13.noarch --- [root@eee901 ~]# uname -r 2.6.33.3-85.fc13.i686 --- Expected results: By default: Only spekars are used if headphones are disconnected and Only headphones are used if are connected (Speakers are mute).
Is there a work-around or something for this bug? Because, it is getting really irritating!
This message is a reminder that Fedora 13 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 13. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '13'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 13's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 13 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Fedora 13 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2011-06-25. Fedora 13 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
Moving to latest release since I still see this.
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora.
