Description Tim Waugh 2010-04-16 14:54:38 UTC
Description of problem:
From the troubleshoot report in bug #579957 comment #5:

{'cups_device_dict': {'device-class': u'direct',
                      'device-id': u'MANUFACTURER:Canon;COMMAND SET:BJ,LQ,BJL,BJRaster;MODEL:BJC-4100;CLASS:PRINTER;DESCRIPTION:Canon BJC-4100;',
                      'device-info': u'Canon BJC-4100 LPT #1',
                      'device-location': u'',
                      'device-make-and-model': u'Canon BJC-4100'}}

Trying this out with check-device-ids I get this:

$ ./check-device-ids.py 'Canon BJC-4100' 'MANUFACTURER:Canon;COMMAND SET:BJ,LQ,BJL,BJRaster;MODEL:BJC-4100;CLASS:PRINTER;DESCRIPTION:Canon BJC-4100;'
[...]
└── Canon BJC-4100 (user-specified): MFG:Canon;MDL:BJC-4100;CMD:BJ,LQ,BJL,BJRaster;
    (No drivers)
        MISSING  foomatic:Canon-BJC-4100-bjc600.ppd [/usr/lib/cups/driver/foomatic]
