Description of problem:

The effected machine is a "Dell OptiPlex 740 Enhanced". When the computer boots into any RHEL 5.5 kernel it is constantly doing a lot of IO. If you run top you will see the ata/1 process constantly going up and down. If you boot into a previous kernel it works just fine, the I/O subsides, and the ata/1 is a whopping 0%.

The BIOS on this machine was also upgraded and that did not fix the problem.

This bug lacks most required information for being able to analyse it. It sounds
like a problem with the SATA drive(s), but there is no information.
