Description of problem: Hello, I've got a problem with my laptop ASUS M60J and FC13 X86_64 With DVD, liveCD or USB install i got errors, PCIe errors... same with FC12 X86_64.. So I boot it with acpi=off option in the grub and the boot was ok, so i could install it. Now it is installed, it's not possible to put the acpi=on option.. I'm still with no acpi :/ I can't boot with acpi active...or I had PCIe error and black screen of the death.. like that: http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/8660/imag0091nb.jpg For information the last ubuntu works well on it.. I have updated with the last RPMs (yum update after a no acpi boot) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora FC13 x86_64 How reproducible: boot with default grub (without acpi=off) Actual results: boot withou acpi ok, boot with acpi on KO Expected results: A boot with acpi active Additional info: I have posted on fedora-fr forum my problem http://forums.fedora-fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=421482#p421482 Thank you, Regards
Try adding: intel_iommu=off to the boot options instead of acpi=off.
same error message... PCIe Bus Erros...
nobody has an idea to help me?? please
Can you get a better picture of the screen with the error messages? And are the messages exactly the same after adding intel_iommu=off? That driver should not be loading when you set that option, and it looks like the iommu driver is printing those messages.
Today, I boot without acpi then i update with the last kernel (available theses last days) (2.6.33.6-147.fc13.x86_64) Then I boot with acpi i had this message: http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/2434/p1040914y.jpg Then I Boot adding intel_iommu=off and it boots! What can I do now if i want to run with intel_iommu on? What is "Intel_iommu" used for? It seems that it can't use 3D effects now? With Ubuntu I Could do it..

Adding cc's for people who might be able to explain what the messages in comment #6 mean. You should not have to add "intel_iommu=off" to work around those.
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 14 development cycle. Changing version to '14'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
I am running FC13 (kernel 2.6.33.6-147.2.4.fc13.x86_64) on a Toshiba Satellite A505D laptop and experiencing the same issue. The laptop will boot when "acpi=off" or "acpi=ht" is specified, but will hang otherwise (http://twitpic.com/2eggy9). Combinations of "pci=noacpi", "acpi=noirq", "pnpacpi=off", "noapic", "nolapic", and "intel_iommu=off" do not seem to help the issue at all. All of my packages have been updated at the point of writing.

File a new bug, and capture the entire message, not just the last 25 lines, by adding "vga=1" or "vga=791" to the boot options.
Hello, so i have to install FC14 ? Is that it? So, I will test it soon.
it's only in alpha release...outch... have to wait till November to see Fedora on my LapTop... Why Ubuntu works well on it and not Fedora? ... Today i have the same message as in the beginning... with intel_iommu_off it still does not work... (I have just updated the kernel .. ) :-(

This is the bug about the same error reported by Kenaniah Cerny (comment #10): https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=624758
Try pcie_ports=compat? Thanks, Kyle
Good Day, This has been a problem since implementation of plymouth on my 64bit system. I have an HP EliteBook 6930p with intel chipset and have had to add this to my kernel boot parms since this time in order to boot and to run Fedora. My problem is that it should be addressed so those of us who might want to take advantage of the technology should not have to disable it to run Fedora. However, I recognize this might be something bigger than this distro, but have failed in my searching on really to whom this bug should be reported so I want to make a note here that this is still and issue, and should be resolved and maybe through this we can get an upstream fix somewhere?
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
