Comment 2 Paul Jenner 2010-07-03 22:07:08 UTC
Caused by using tuned to set spindown-disk profile:

[root@localhost ~]# tuned-adm profile spindown-disk
Calling '/etc/ktune.d/tunedadm.sh stop':                   [  OK  ]
Stopping tuned:                                            [  OK  ]
Switching to profile 'spindown-disk'
Applying ktune sysctl settings:
/etc/ktune.d/tunedadm.conf:                                [  OK  ]
Calling '/etc/ktune.d/tunedadm.sh start': *** buffer overflow detected ***: hal-disable-polling terminated
<snip>
/etc/ktune.d/tunedadm.sh: line 74:  8328 Aborted                 (core dumped) hal-disable-polling --device $i
Can't get device info: No such device
FATAL: Module hci_usb not found.

Duplicate of bug #554886

hal-disable-polling --device /dev/scd0 causes crash, hal-disable-polling --device /dev/sr0 is fine - where /dev/scd0 is a symlink to /dev/sr0
