Description Matthew Saltzman 2010-07-05 22:52:57 UTC
Description of problem:
My Dell E6410 has a backlit keyboard that should cycle through modes on/off/on-when-ambient-light-is-low when key <Fn>-<rightarrow> is pressed. But it doesn't, and it doesn't seem to light in low ambient light, even though it is set to do so in the BIOS. I think that the BIOS setting is being changed by the function key, but the light never works. It works in Windows 7.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-2.6.33.5-124.fc13.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Press <Fn>-<rightarrow> several times
2.
3.

Actual results:
No change to keyboard backlight status

Expected results:
Keybpard backlight status cycles as described above.

Sorry, this isn't the bug I thought it was.

There's a brightness control for the keyboard backlight that isn't accessible from the keyboard. That was turned all the way down, so the backlight wasn't visible. I found the control in Windows and was able to increase it to the point where it's visible. Then the toggle appears to work correctly.

So the real bug is an RFE to provide access to the backlight brightness control. I can file that separately, but what package should I file against?
