Description of problem: mutter-mbl (a fork of upstream GNOME's mutter) is currently not parallel-installable with the upstream version as packaged by Fedora. This makes it difficult to test MeeGo for those who also want to try out GNOME Shell, and would be even more of a serious problem in F-14, which will likely default to using mutter and GNOME Shell by default. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 2.28.1_0.12-1.fc13 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. yum install gnome-shell 2. yum install mutter-mbl Actual results: Error: mutter-mbl conflicts with mutter Expected results: Should install into a parallel directory structure Additional info:
Ah, I see this is already WIP in the development branch.
Speaking with the meego developers of this on Friday night they're either going to merge entirely with upstream in the meego 1.1 timeframe or rename and fork entirely. So one way or the other this will be resolved by F-14. Oh and they were the original upstream, not gnome.
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 14 development cycle. Changing version to '14'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Assigning this to rawhide as it won't be fixed in F-14 release timeframe

still present in F15 beta
I've tried to install Meego in my Fedora 15 Beta (with GNOME Shell/GNOME3) and I'm not able. mutter-mbl conflicts with mutter yet! Someone is working or thinking to work on it ? With that problem we are unable to install the Meego packges group or create a Fedora based Meego remix/spin.
MeeGo Netbook UX isn't being developed by upstream any more. Its still supported but at this point in time its very unlikely to be ported to the latest gnome3 libraries. As a result of this its getting harder and harder to actually support and use meego in Fedora. If someone is interested in doing this work I'll happily assist where possible. It is possible that some of the needed libraries will be ported to gnome3 in the Meego 1.3 / F-16 timeframe due to other projects and requirements but if nothing happens by that time its likely that the majority of the MeeGo Netbook UX will just be removed from Fedora. This is separate to any of the other UX such as phone or tablet.
