I have experienced the reversed effect, in that system time almost slow down to half.
In the above case Fedora 2 was ran in vmware.com's virtual machine version 4.5, with 96MB of memory, Pentium 4 2.4GHz, virtual harddisk 6GB emulated on virtual BusLogic SCSI. The bug on hardware clock was observed by using webmin v 1.140 at the hardware -> system time page. In about 10 mins after I sync both hardware and system time against NTP server, the skew of system time is observed that it is lagging behind by few mins.
Thanks for the bug report. However, Red Hat no longer maintains this version of the product. Please upgrade to the latest version and open a new bug if the problem persists. The Fedora Legacy project (http://fedoralegacy.org/) maintains some older releases, and if you believe this bug is interesting to them, please report the problem in the bug tracker at: http://bugzilla.fedora.us/
