When trying to find out the status os smbd using smbstatus,
the command returns the following error message:

Couldn't open status file /var/lock/samba/STATUS..LCK

The status file isn't created until after the first connection
is made.

If you run smbclient -L on the samba server, then smbstatus
will work from then on....
