Description of problem: There is no sound detected from the internal mic on this machine. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): alsa-lib-1.0.23-1.fc13 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open volume control and turn mic all the way up 2. Make Skype test call 3. Open cheese and record some video Actual results: No distinguishable activity on the sound meter in the volume control app. No sound recorded in Skype test call. No sound in cheese video. Expected results: Some indication that sound is being detected in the volume control VU meter. Recorded sound played back by test call. Sound played back in cheese video. Additional info: External mic plugged into the external mic jack works fine. I've seen posts to online groups suggesting that the internal mic is part of the internal webcam.
Same problem with Dell Vostro 1220 with audio Intel 82801I Conexant CX20583 (Pebble HSF). Mix was working fine on F12 (x86_64) and after upgrade to F13 Mic doesn't work any more.
I solved it for my Dell Vostro by creating the file: /etc/modprobe.d/snd_hda_intel.conf with the line: options snd_hda_intel model=dell-vostro
I found at a Ubuntu forum that for the Latitude E6410, the correct entry is options snd_hda_intel model=dell-s14 Now all we need is for this to be detected automatically.
See also bug 628003.
Problem still exists in F14, and the solution from comment #3 fixed it for me (E6410)
I can't reproduce the problem in F15 beta.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 13 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 13. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '13'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 13's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 13 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Updated to version 14, per comment 5. I haven't tried F15 yet.
Not resolved on F15 with Dell E6510.
