Updating to 0.8.x requires two reviews since remmina switched to freerdp and the plugins are split out into a separate package. See bug 603481 for the freerdp review. I will request a review of the plugins package once freerdp is done.
Do you have draft specs for the remmina 0.8 packages? The freerdp packaging is still young and this is the first external use of the libraries, so it could use some testing.
Yes, I have packages for remmina-0.8.0 and remmina-plugins-0.8.1, but there is a problem with the plugins package. It builds against an internal copy of libvncserver again. We already had this in the remmina review (bug 553402), but the solution there doesn't work any longer.
Christoph, Can you take the "ownership" of this package please ? Thank you.
This package has changed ownership in the Fedora Package Database. Reassigning to the new owner of this component.

We require the package to be in updates-released instead of updates-testing.
As of this writting, it seems that freerdp-0.8.1-2.fc14 is present in updates-testing but remmina-0.8.3 is not.
The problem is that remmina 0.8.x requires remmina-plugins and these will have to be reviewed first in but 655599. I'd like like to have the new package modular to avoid unneeded deps. This means that people will have to install additional plugins after the update. I already know that this will make people complain that things are no longer working after the upgrade. Therefor I'm not sure if I make this change in a stable Fedora release.
Any more updates on this? I would like to have a newer remmina. Currently remmina 0.9.x is released.
(In reply to comment #13) > I would like to have a newer remmina. As mentioned above, it is unlikely that this change will happen in F13 or F14 because of our new updates policy, see https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Updates_Policy If you have a good reason, I can try to get an exception, but "I would like to have" will not really convince release engineering. > Currently remmina 0.9.x is released. I know, but as long as the plugins are shipping a bundled copy of libvncserver and build against it, I cannot package them because this is a violation of our packaging guidelines, see https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:No_Bundled_Libraries There was a configure switch to use the system's libvncserver, but it does not work with 0.8.x. Look at the bug report I linked in the plugins review. I have note hard back on this one from upstream, but I will give 0.9 a try (when I'm back from hospital).
remmina 0.9.2 compiles fine on F14-x86_64 (I'm experiencing some compiation issues with remmina-plugins-0.9.1, though).
(In reply to comment #15) > remmina 0.9.2 compiles fine on F14-x86_64 (I'm experiencing some > compiation issues with remmina-plugins-0.9.1, though). My bad. Using the respective remmina-0.8.3 and remmina-plugins-0.8.4 .spec files from Christoph (http://cwickert.fedorapeople.org/review/) allows both remmina-0.9.2 and remmina-plugins-0.9.1 to compile flawlessly.
Uh, the upstream bug with the plugins was fixed already Dec. 20th, but I did not get notified. Looks like there are no more blockers, I will do the update once I have a better internet connection.
Remmina 0.9.2 ssh is unusable due to this libssh bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libssh/+bug/663777?comments=all Don't know if this can be considered a blocker, though.

> Fixed in libssh 0.4.7 : bug #670456 . Thanks, just tested and it's fixed.
remmina-0.9.3 and remmina-plugins 0.9.2 are in rawhide now.
Compiles & installs on F14. Thanks, Christoph !
Are there any plans to push an update for F-14?
Nope, as already mentioned twice in this bug. ;) Please read comment 14. However I will make them available in a special repo at http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/cwickert/remmina/ Stay tuned.
Sorry, I missed that! Special repo sounds like a good compromise. Thanks!
Thank you, Christoph. I appreciate your work on this and, independently, I wish good health for you. I look forward to this for Fedora 14.
