Description Andrew Cathrow 2010-07-23 15:36:05 UTC
The VirtIO windows drivers have been included in the virt-v2v package. These drivers should only be provided by the virtio-win package.

If we need these drivers for virt-v2v then we should ensure that the user installs virtio-win (eg. make dependency) and if required include the appropriate file structure in the virtio-win package - eg. some expanded files in /usr/share/doc/virtio-win-1.0.0/

Technical note added. If any revisions are required, please edit the "Technical Notes" field
accordingly. All revisions will be proofread by the Engineering Content Services team.

    New Contents:
Previously the virt-v2v package contained VirtIO drivers required for converting Microsoft Windows guests. The new package removes these drivers. Instead, it expects to take them from the virtio-win package, which is available in the RHEL 5 Supplementary channel. Installing or updating virt-v2v does not automatically install virtio-win. Attempting to convert a Windows guest without the virtio-win package installed will give an error about missing files.

Also note that this change requires an update to the default configuration file. This change will be applied automatically when upgrading virt-v2v if the default configuration file has not been modified. If it has been modified, it is strongly recommended that the changes made are re-applied to the new default configuration file.
