when the cron job runs, it spits out this .. Bareword "P_DETACH" not allowed while "strict subs" in use at /usr/bin/../lib/mrtg2/MRTG_lib.pm line 1181. Compilation failed in require at /usr/bin/mrtg line 89. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/mrtg line 89.

From the changelog, it sounds like this has been fixed in the newer upstream release 2.16.4
