Created attachment 436398 [details] Sample pdf file which evince cannot handle Description of problem: evince is unable to display correctly a page using symbols; like on an attached sample. I cannot confirm that any longer but I do not recall such troubles on Fedora 11. OTOH the same sample on Fedora 12 also misrenders this page. What is more on Fedora 13 xpdf got also this affliction while it was spared earlier. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): evince-2.30.3-1.fc13 evince-2.28.2-2.fc12 How reproducible: always on a given sample Additional info: xpdf-3.02-15.fc13 is as broken as evince. OTOH xpdf-3.02-15.fc12 is displaying sample page correctly. As a matter of fact a "correct" sample was done with its help. Also gv-3.7.1-1.fc13 renders all glyps as expected

Oh, I found why xpdf-3.02-15.fc13 had probles absent for fc12. It turns out that in /etc/xpdf.config on 13 there was a line 'enableT1lib no' and this was not the case for 12. After removing that xpdf-3.02-15.fc13 works as expected. Does this give any hints about evince?
Hi, this looks like a problem in Freetype or the font (GPBFCA+ScienceTypeCustomPi-No5T - 30th stream of the pdf). Poppler uses Freetype to draw chars and running ftview on the font shows only two symbols and "Fails = 18" in terminal (the font contains 20 symbols). Fontforge shows all symbols. => reassigning to Freetype Regards Marek

Hello, I would like to add a stone to that problem. I read articles with evince and sum are in many articles shown as a huge dot. I think this is related. I remember in F12 this was not true but cannot confirm when the bug appeared exactly?
evince-2.32.0-2.fc14 shows the same issue. Neither xpdf-3.02-16.fc14 nor gv-3.7.1-1.fc14 have troubles with a sample attached to this report.
