Radek, any chance to have the latest version in Fedora?
I'm working on it in every free moment I've got. But I've meet some issues with compiling it I am fighting with now.
(In reply to comment #19) > I'm working on it in every free moment I've got. Great! I was afraid that Kadu package was abandoned. > But I've meet some issues with compiling it I am fighting with now. I've been never compiling Kadu myself, but I maintain a few other packages for Fedora, so if you liked you could describe the problem here or mail me directly - maybe we will be able to solve it together.
FWIW, I'm a Kadu developer and I can try to help as well. Especially if it's an issue in Kadu itself and needs to be fixed there.
I am able to compile Kadu itself. It's rather about external plugins. Now it's all on gitorious, and have to look how to use git repositories in spec files if it's even possible. Eventually I can push it without external plugins as for now, just to make it working and up-to-date.
I don't know if this will be helpful, but usually there is no need to checkout/clone scm repository to fetch sources from a tag for a specific version to build given program/library. Gitorius/GitHub allows to fetch tagged sources as tarball. Sample link for source package for lednotify, tag 0.10-31: http://gitorious.org/ultr-kadu-plugins/lednotify/archive-tarball/0.10-31
There's no need to use Gitorious to fetch external plugins sources. Piotr Dąbrowski hosts his plugins (URL's here [1]), import_history is hosted by its author Michał Walenciak here [2], and only anonymous_check and mime_tex tarballs aren't hosted anywhere. They were hosted on kadu.net but it's been disabled. I can upload them to download.kadu.im (it will be done with Kadu 0.11-compatible versions anyway). I think we should only better expose this information. Radek, are you subscribed to kadu-packagers mailing list? If not, would you like to be? [1] http://www.kadu.im/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=11177 [2] http://kicer.sileman.net.pl/kadu/
@Marcin: I found this and tried this way, but couldn't specify the name of downloaded package, so it's assumed that The name is 0.10-31. @Bartosz: I haven't seen that, maybe because I wasn't looking on forum for it. Thanks for those URLs, I think that it will be really helpful. I'm not subscribed to kadu-packagers mailing list, and I would like to be in it. (Is it some private list?)
(In reply to comment #25) I uploaded anononymous_check and mime_tex plugins to download.kadu.im, so now all external plugins can be downloaded as regular tarballs. http://download.kadu.im/external-plugins And yes, kadu-packagers is a private list (I don't know why...). I will let its maintainer know about you. Cheers
kadu-0.10.1-1.fc15 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 15. https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/kadu-0.10.1-1.fc15
kadu-0.10.1-1.fc16 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 16. https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/kadu-0.10.1-1.fc16
Package kadu-0.10.1-2.fc16: * should fix your issue, * was pushed to the Fedora 16 testing repository, * should be available at your local mirror within two days. Update it with: # su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing kadu-0.10.1-2.fc16' as soon as you are able to. Please go to the following url: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2012-0352/kadu-0.10.1-2.fc16 then log in and leave karma (feedback).
Radek, there is a missing dependency. Without installed qca-ossl I was unable to connect any Jabber account (GG worked anyway). There were following error messages (dialog boxes) at the first Kadu start: Encryption: The QCA OSSL plugin for libqca2 is not present Kadu: Module initialization routine for encryption_ng failed. With qca-ossl installed Jabber and GG seems to work fine on Fedora 15 and 16.
I can provide a patch (for libqca2) if it would help to make a new version and mark it stable.
This package was retired: http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/kadu.git/tree/dead.package
> This package was retired on 2012-08-06 due to failure to build for multiple releases. The funny thing is that it wouldn't have failed to build if this bug was fixed and the latest version of the package was used.
I guess the maintainer lost interest... If you'd like to see this package back in fedora, you can re-submit the spec file for a Review Request. See http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Package_Review_Process for details.
Bartosz, if you feel up to it, I can sponsor you.
