Description Bill Nottingham 2010-08-25 14:13:18 UTC
Description of problem:

My /etc/hosts:
10.11.231.177	nostromo.devel.redhat.com	nostromo	# Added by NetworkManager
127.0.0.1	localhost.localdomain	localhost sign-bridge01 sign-bridge1
::1	nostromo.devel.redhat.com	nostromo	localhost6.localdomain6	localhost6

When NM acquires an address, it removes the sign-bridge* aliases from loopback. It should not do that.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

NetworkManager-0.8.1-5.git20100818.fc14.x86_64

How reproducible:

100%

I'm experiencing the same problem in Fedora 13 as of package version 0.8.1-4.git20100817.fc13.x86_64.

Whenever NM acquire and address or configure it statically it resets the /etc/hosts loopback line to default.

Comment 2 Dan Williams 2010-09-01 02:26:02 UTC
If you put your additional entries on separate 127.0.0.1 lines, NM will not touch them. At this time NM only touches 127.0.0.1 lines that contain "localhost" or "localhost6".

Comment 3 Bill Nottingham 2010-09-01 04:31:28 UTC
This is a change in behavior, though. Why should it care whether it's on a separate line or not?

(Also, NM is now resetting my hostname to localhost.localdomain, which is pretty annoying.)
