Patch to add a link to log views of repository roots

Description of problem:
When displaying the repository roots page, there is no links to the log views, as in the "Rev" column of subdirectory pages. The only way to get these logs is to "forge" their urls by appending "/repository_name?view=log" manually. This not really a bug: it's just the lack of a feature that can be easily implemented.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
1.1.6-1

How reproducible: Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In the web browser, go to your viewvc repository root page.

Actual results:
Repository names are listed and can be used as links to their respective contents. However no link allows to show the repository log views.

Expected results:
... want to have such a link !

Additional info:
The attached patch adds that feature. The new root page does not look very beautiful (I'm not a web designer!), but the idea is there...
I did not report it upstream.

Comment 1 Bojan Smojver 2010-09-03 22:11:06 UTC
I think this is probably something for upstream, no?

Comment 2 Patrick Monnerat 2010-09-27 11:11:58 UTC
Yes, if you mean this is not a packaging bug!

Comment 3 Bojan Smojver 2010-09-27 22:24:28 UTC
Could you please report it upstream and attach the bug ID here. Once a patch emerges upstream (or a new version), we can rebuild.

Comment 4 Patrick Monnerat 2010-09-28 12:08:41 UTC
Reported upstream at http://viewvc.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=470

Comment 5 Bug Zapper 2010-11-03 10:27:03 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '12'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 6 Patrick Monnerat 2010-11-05 11:33:09 UTC
Patch has been aproved upstream as a "quick n'dirty" fix, thus not applied to their source tree. They however did not fix this problem yet.
Reassigning bug to F14.

Comment 7 Bug Zapper 2010-12-03 12:37:21 UTC
Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
